Hey, my name is Ryan. I am new to the podcast/show. Love the few shows I’ve listened to so far. I went through the history looking for a show on 1911s. Have you done this before??? I couldn’t find one if you have, went back as early as the 2013 shows.

It is by far my favorite platform. If you haven’t done a show on this, I know a lot of us would love to hear more about this iconic masterpiece of gun history. The history behind it, the evolution, the various differences between current models, differences between a $500 rock island or a $5,000 Wilson Combat or Nighthawk. Etc..

Thanks for listening. You have a new subscriber.

Hi Gunguys ,

A retired guy that I work with part time was going to go to a shop and sell his 1921 Colt Police Positive that his Dad carried as a police officer for 6 years in the 1940s. I didn’t want him to sell this gun, and I don’t understand why a gun person would. I looked up the gun and it was worth between $250 and maybe $1000 depending on condition. This one didn’t have a lot of use but it had been in a holster since the 1940s and was only removed once in a while for cleaning. I didn’t want to see this gun get consigned for $300 so I gave him $400 for the gun and holster. Later in my locker I found a letter about the ownership, a shoulder holster that his Dad had hand made, a box of 38 special ammo and a leather ammo thing with some crusty 38 special ammo.

The trigger on the gun was horrible but the gun was dry and crusty so I took it apart and cleaned and lubricated the parts and put it back together and the thing shoots sweet now!

After this one I ” Pulled the trigger” on a gun that I’ve always wanted a Colt Detectives Special, I paid too much, but I’ve always wanted one and this one is a really clean second series from 1966. Also the previous owner sent me a letter that he had received from Colt about the history of when it was made, and who it was originally shipped to.

Thank you for the shows, I really enjoy them

Hello, I am new to guns. I shot a BB gun as a kid and occasionally shot rifles with my grandfather 30 years ago. I am trying to get my son involved as he is 9 and really likes shooting targets in the backyard with his BB gun. I have really enjoyed the show, but over the summer I plan on buying a .22 rifle for me and to give to my son after he is more comfortable shooting and knows how to be safe with it. I am personally very turned off by not being able to go 30 seconds into most podcasts without 2nd amendment or NRA coming up. Can I expect to be able to go to a gun shop and not get bombarded with politics coming up over and over? I am a supporter of the right for most people to own a gun, but I definitely have some issues with the NRA and gun culture that I have experienced. Where other than your show should I go for more quality information? Thanks. – Love the show

Why don’t you talk about guns. You haven’t pulled a trigger in a year? You are in SD, I pull a trigger just about daily what are you doing?

I was scrolling through my podcasts and noticed that there was new Gun Guy Radio episodes! It was so nice to hear your voice again. Yours was the first gun related podcast I ever listened to (well, the only one worth listening to anyway), and I remember binge listening to all the previous episodes (I think I found you about 20 episodes in). I remember the TopShot recap/discussion episodes! Man, I miss that show.

Anyway, welcome back and thanks for putting out some new content!

Take care,

Bradley

Hi Jake.  I hope this note finds you and your family in good health and spirits.

It has been a long time since I have communicated with you.  However, yesterday I inadvertently played an old podcast of you and Ryan Michad on Backyard Plinking.  I do miss the both of you. Either my podcast app is not functioning well or Ryan’s podcast is on hold.  I have not heard his podcast for quite a while.

Listening to the both of you brought back many fond memories of Gun Guy Radio and my own experiences with plinking.  Gun Guy Radio was and still is one of the best podcasts on guns. I do listen to and enjoy Gun and Gear Review since it does have the Gun Guy Radio flavor but it is not the same.  I just wish that anti gun folks could hear the passion and responsible nature of yourself and Ryan and realize the you guys are the rule in the gun community and not the exception.

I miss you on your network but change happens and others are stepping up to sustain a good thing.

Aloha,

Chauncey

BTW, I’m subscribed pretty much to keep GGR and TWiG on the air.  Keep it up, I look forward to every episode. I’m very happy for you, having moved to a free state.

If I can make a request, can you make sure the entire “outro” music plays every time an episode ends?  I sometimes just listen to the last ~3 minutes of an episode, I find the song very uplifting. Is is possible to get an mp3 of it?
